What vegan leather actually is

It is a polyurethane surface bonded to a fabric backing and finished with a grain. Practically that means three things: it does not stain or darken with hand oils the way real leather does, it wipes clean with a damp cloth, and it holds its colour in heat rather than drying and cracking. It will not develop a patina — if that is what you want from a wallet, this is not the material.

Choosing a size

• Card holder — four to eight cards and folded notes. Fits a front pocket without a visible bulge.
• Bifold — cards, notes and receipts, with a full-width note compartment. The traditional shape.
• Women’s wallets — longer, with a zipped coin section and space for notes unfolded.

Care

Wipe with a barely damp cloth. Keep it off a car dashboard in summer — sustained heat above roughly 50 °C will soften and warp any polyurethane finish.
