Bedding and bedroom textiles at KlippiK Kuwait — bedsheets, dohars and pillow covers by Them.

Bedsheets, dohars and pillow covers — what is the difference?

  • Bedsheets — flat sheets that go over the mattress; matching pillow covers are sold separately.
  • Dohar — a light quilted cotton throw, several thin layers stitched together. The right weight for an air-conditioned Kuwaiti bedroom, where a full duvet is too warm most of the year but a sheet alone is too little.
  • Pillow covers — the washable outer layer for your pillows, sold in sets of two.

Choosing for a Kuwaiti bedroom

The problem here is not cold, it is air conditioning. A room held at 20–22 °C overnight needs a little weight but a lot of breathability. Cotton dohars solve that better than either a thin sheet or a winter-weight duvet, and they wash and dry quickly enough to keep two in rotation.

Care

Wash cotton bedding at 30–40 °C. Line dry in shade rather than full sun, which fades dyed cotton fast. Wash new dark bedding separately the first time.

Common questions

What is a dohar and do I need one in Kuwait?

A dohar is a lightweight quilted cotton throw, typically three thin layers stitched together. In Kuwait it is arguably the most useful single piece of bedding you can own, because it suits an air-conditioned room year round where a duvet is too hot and a sheet is too thin.

Can I wash a dohar in a washing machine?

Yes. Cold or warm gentle cycle, mild detergent, line dry in shade. It dries far faster than a duvet.
