Striate Wooden Tray

The Striate Wooden Tray Office Desk from DailyObjects is a wax polished ashwood desk tray built to bring quiet, lasting order to your workspace. Measuring 37 cm wide with a slim 1 cm profile, the Striate Wooden Tray lies flat on the desk surface, corralling everyday essentials — keys, cards, a pen, a cable — without adding visual clutter or bulk. The striate finish gives the natural ashwood surface a refined, directional texture that sets it apart from plain wooden trays. Practical in function, considered in form.

What Makes the Striate Wooden Tray Office Desk Worth Having

A desk tray earns its place by making the desk look better and work better simultaneously. The Striate Wooden Tray does both — through its material quality, its slim silhouette, and its finish. Three features make it stand out from standard options.

Wax Polished Ashwood

The tray is crafted from ashwood and finished with a wax polish that enhances the natural grain while protecting the surface from daily handling. Ashwood is a dense, close-grained hardwood that resists denting and scratching better than softer woods commonly used in desk accessories. The wax finish gives the surface a smooth, matte sheen — neither glossy nor rough — that feels premium to the touch and ages gracefully with use. Unlike lacquered finishes that chip and peel, the wax-polished surface is easy to maintain and improves in character over time.

Striate Finish

‘Striate’ refers to the fine parallel grain lines brought out by the finishing process. On this tray, the striate pattern runs cleanly across the 37 cm width, giving the ashwood surface a structured, linear quality that reads as intentional rather than decorative. It is a subtle detail — but one that distinguishes this tray from the undifferentiated wooden accessories that populate most desk setups.

Slim 1 cm Profile

At just 1 cm in height, the Striate Tray sits almost flush with the desk surface. Items placed in it — a phone, a watch, keys, cards — are immediately visible and accessible without the tray creating a raised obstacle zone on the desk. The flat profile also means the tray transitions seamlessly between desk, bedside table, and entryway without ever looking out of place.

Striate Wooden Tray vs Standard Desk Trays

Where to Use the Striate Wooden Tray

The 37 cm × 20 cm footprint fits naturally into the periphery of any desk layout — at the corner, beside the monitor, or at the front edge within arm’s reach. It organises the items that inevitably accumulate: a phone, a pen, earbuds, keys, a small notebook. With those items corralled in one place, the rest of the desk surface stays clear for actual work.

Beyond the desk, the Striate Tray works equally well as a bedside organiser for a watch, ring, and phone, or as an entryway drop tray for keys and cards. The natural ashwood finish suits warm, neutral, and Japandi-style interiors particularly well — environments where raw material quality is part of the aesthetic.
