Why cotton canvas

Canvas is heavier than nylon and that is the point: it holds a shape, so a tote stands open on a desk instead of collapsing, and a backpack keeps its silhouette when it is half empty. It also ages visibly, softening and creasing where it is handled, which suits people who would rather a bag looked used than looked new.
