Why a dohar rather than a duvet

An Emirati bedroom held at 20–22 °C overnight is a specific problem: a winter duvet is far too warm, a bare sheet is not enough, and most people end up half under a folded blanket. A dohar sits exactly in that gap. It has enough weight to feel like bedding and enough breathability that you do not wake up too hot.

How it is made

Typically three layers of cotton — a printed top, a soft filler layer, a plain backing — quilted together so the layers cannot shift. That construction is why it drapes rather than puffs, and why it washes and dries like a sheet rather than a duvet.

Care

Machine wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Line dry in shade. Wash a new dark dohar separately the first time. It will soften with each wash for the first several.
