Desk Mat

A desk mat is a flat pad, usually 60cm to 90cm wide, that covers the working area of a desk. It does three jobs at once: it gives an optical mouse a consistent surface to track on, it protects the desk from scratches and cup rings, and it puts something softer than laminate under your forearms.

Which size fits your desk?

• Small, around 45cm by 25cm — mouse only, or a tablet and a pen. Suits a shared or hot desk.
• Medium, around 60cm by 30cm — laptop plus mouse. The most common choice for a home desk.
• Large, around 80cm by 40cm — full-size keyboard plus mouse, with room to write beside them.
• Extra large, 90cm and above — a monitor, keyboard and mouse all sitting on the mat, so the whole desk reads as one surface.

Measure the depth of your desk before ordering. A mat that overhangs the front edge curls at the corners and gets caught by chair arms.

Materials

• Vegan leather (PU) — wipes clean with a damp cloth, resists water and coffee, and lies flat straight out of the box. The right pick if you eat or drink at the desk.
• Felt and fabric — warmer, quieter under a keyboard, and softer under the wrists. It marks more easily and needs brushing rather than wiping.
• Cork — light, naturally grippy underneath, and the most heat tolerant, so a hot laptop base does not mark it.

Keeping it flat and clean

A rolled mat will hold its curl for a day or two. Lay it flat and put a book at each corner overnight; do not use heat on it. Clean vegan leather with a barely damp cloth and dry it immediately. Fabric mats should be lint-rolled and spot-cleaned rather than soaked, because water spreads a stain outwards on felt.

Common questions about Desk Mat

Does a desk mat improve mouse tracking?

Yes, particularly on glass, high-gloss or heavily grained desks, where an optical sensor struggles to find a consistent pattern to read. A matte, uniform mat surface gives it something reliable to track on.

What is the standard desk mat size?

Around 80cm by 40cm is the most common large size and fits a full keyboard and mouse. If you work on a laptop alone, a 60cm by 30cm medium mat is usually enough.

Can a desk mat be cleaned?

Vegan leather and cork mats wipe clean with a barely damp cloth. Felt and fabric mats should be lint-rolled and spot-cleaned; do not put any desk mat in a washing machine.

Can I return a desk mat bought from KlippiK?

You have 14 days from delivery to request a return. The item must be unused and in its original packaging with all accessories, and it is inspected when it reaches us.

Desk mat FAQs

What size desk mat should I buy?

85 × 45 cm suits most desks — it holds a laptop, keyboard and mouse. For a compact desk, the mini size covers just the keyboard-and-mouse area.

Are the desk mats waterproof and easy to clean?

They’re made from water-resistant vegan leather. Spills wipe off with a damp cloth; they don’t stain or absorb liquid the way felt or fabric mats do.

Are they reversible?

Yes — each mat is a different colour on each side, so you get two looks in one.

Do you deliver desk mats?

Yes — free delivery in the UAE over AED 100, express across the GCC (all prices in AED).
