Crossbody Lanyards
A crossbody phone lanyard is a strap that lets you wear your phone across your body instead of holding it, so both hands stay free and the phone cannot be left on a table. It attaches either through a thin insert card that slides between the phone and its case, or by clipping to a case with built-in lanyard loops.

How the attachment works
- Take the case off the phone.
- Slide the thin insert card into the case with the loop sticking out of the charging-port cut-out.
- Put the case back on so the card is sandwiched between the phone and the case, held by the whole surface area rather than by glue.
- Clip the lanyard to the loop.
The load is carried by the case, not by the card, which is why the system holds a phone securely. It works with almost any case that has a bottom charging cut-out. It does not work with a case so tight that nothing can sit behind the phone, or with no case at all.
Strap or cord?
- Flat woven strap — spreads weight over a wider area of the shoulder, so it is more comfortable with a large phone. Usually adjustable in length.
- Round cord — lighter and less visible, sits neatly under a collar, and looks closer to jewellery than to equipment. Better with a compact phone.
Either way, aim for a length that puts the phone at your hip when standing. Too short and you cannot lift the phone to your ear without unclipping it; too long and it swings against the leg when you walk.
Where a phone lanyard actually earns its place
Travel days, markets and airports, where a phone in a back pocket is the thing most likely to go missing. Photography and filming, where you want to let go of the phone without putting it down. Parents and anyone carrying shopping, who need both hands and cannot dig through a bag. And gym or walking use, where a phone in a pocket flaps and a phone in a hand gets dropped.

Common questions about Crossbody Lanyards
Do phone lanyards work with any phone?
Yes, with almost any phone that has a case with a charging-port cut-out at the bottom. The insert card sits between the phone and the case, so it does not depend on the phone model. It will not work with a phone used without a case.
Will the insert card damage my phone or block charging?
No. The card is thinner than a credit card and sits flat against the back of the phone; the loop passes out through the existing port cut-out, leaving the charging port clear.
Can I use a lanyard with a MagSafe case?
Yes. The insert card is non-magnetic and thin enough not to interfere with MagSafe alignment or wireless charging in most cases. If your case is unusually tight, fitting may be difficult.
How much weight will it hold?
The strap is rated well beyond the weight of a phone; the limiting factor is the case. A hard case that grips the phone firmly all the way round holds securely. A loose or very flexible silicone case can let the card slip out under load.
